Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklifts)

These qualification programs are designed to assist you in meeting federal requirements for forklift operator instruction.  Each course includes classroom instruction, a student handbook, written exam, hands-on evaluation, and operator ID cards.  Each course is approximately 5 hours.

1. Warehouse Forklift Operator – Covers class 1, 4, and 5 sit down rider forklifts.
2. Construction Forklift Operator – Covers class 1, 4, and 5 sit down rider forklifts and class 7 telehandlers.
3. Warehouse Forklift & Pallet Jack Operator – Covers class 1, 4, and 5 sit down rider forklifts and class 2 electric pallet jacks.
4. Top Pick (Container Handlers) Operator – Covers class 5 and 7 large capacity container handler or top pick forklifts.   
5. Piggyback Lift Operator – Covers portable 3- and 4-wheeled “piggyback” trucks which attach to transportation truck beds.

 

Personnel Lifting Devices

These qualification programs are designed to assist you in meeting federal requirements for personnel lifting device operator instruction.  Each course includes classroom instruction, a student handbook, written exam, hands-on evaluation, and operator ID cards. 

1. Aerial Boom & Scissor Lift Operator – 4 hour program covering both Aerial Boom and Scissor Lift devices.
2. Bucket Truck Operator – 8 hour program covering vehicle mounted elevating work platforms (commonly called bucket trucks).

 

Earth Moving Equipment

These qualification programs are designed to assist you in meeting federal requirements for operator instruction on your specific equipment type.  Each course includes classroom instruction, a student handbook, written exam, hands-on evaluation, and operator ID cards.  .

1. Backhoe Operator – 8 hour program covering both 5 and 7 point backhoes.
2. Skid Steer Loader Operator – 8 hour program covering smaller skid steer loaders that can be adjusted to address various attachment options.
3. Front-End Loader Operator – 8 hour program covering articulating loaders.

 

Rigging and Signaling Qualifications

Designed to assist you in meeting the federal law for Rigging and Signaling Training.  Each course includes classroom instruction, written exam, practical use evaluation, and student ID cards.  These programs are NOT national certifications.  They do meet all federal training requirements.

1. Rigging & Signaling for Material Handling Boom Trucks – 1/2 day program covering simple rigging and signaling for material handling boom trucks only.  Includes a student workbook.
2. Rigging & Signaling for Cranes – 2 day program covering basic rigging and signaling for mobile, tower, and overhead cranes.  Includes a student workbook.
3. Signaling for Cranes – 3 hour program covering signaling/spotting for mobile, tower, and overhead cranes.

 

Boom Truck and Crane Operator Qualifications

These qualification programs are designed to assist you in meeting federal requirements for crane operators NOT requiring national certification.  Each course includes classroom instruction,  written exam, hands-on evaluation, and operator ID cards. 1. Service Crane Truck Operator – 8 hour program covering service crane trucks or “auto crane” type equipment.  Includes a student handbook.
2. Conveyor Boom Truck Operator – 8 hour program covering conveyor type booms and equipment.  Includes a student handbook.
3. Material Handling Boom Truck Operator – 8 hour program covering material delivery sheetrock booms and articulating boom trucks with sheetrock or fork attachments but no hoisting line.  Includes a student workbook.
4. Telescopic Boom Truck Operator – 2 day program covering straight telescopic boom trucks.  Includes a student workbook.
5. Articulating Boom Truck Operator – 2 day program covering articulating boom trucks with hoisting lines.  Includes a student workbook.
6. Telescopic Mobile Crane Operator – 3 day program covering telescopic mobile RT cranes and boom trucks.  Includes a student workbook.
7. Telescopic Mobile Crane Operator Refresher – 1 day program covering  telescopic mobile RT cranes and boom trucks.  Includes a student workbook.  Operator Refresher students must have previously passed the OVERTON Safety Training Mobile Crane Operator qualification course and hold a current Operator ID Card.
8. Mobile Crane Site Supervisor/Lift Planner – 8 hour program covering supervisor/lift planner responsibilities for Mobile and Tower Cranes.  Includes a student workbook.
9. Overhead Crane Operator – 1 day program covering cab operatored and remote operatoed overhead cranes.  Includes a student workbook.
10. Pendant Overhead Crane Operator – 5 hour program covering only small pendant remote operated overhead cranes.  Includes a student handbook.
11. Top Slewing Tower Crane Operator – 2 day program covering only top slewing or city tower cranes.  Includes a student workbook.
12. Fast Erect Tower Crane Operator – 1 day program covering only bottom slewing or fast erect tower cranes.  Includes a student workbook.

 

NCCCO National Crane Certification Courses

The following are preparatory and testing programs to assist you in meeting the federal law for crane operators requiring national certification.  Each course includes classroom preparatory instruction, practice quizzes, hands-on test course practice to help prepare students, the written and practical certification exams as administered through the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO).  All include a student workbook.

1. Articulating Mobile Crane – 2 day preparatory and tesing program covering Articulating Boom Cranes (ABC), Articulating Boom Loaders (ABL), and Articulating Boom Cranes with Winch (ABW).
2. Telescopic Mobile Crane – 3-5 day preparatory and testing program covering telescopic mobile RT cranes (Swing Cab, or TLL) and boom trucks (Fixed Cab, or TSS) as well as preparatory instruction for the NCCCO Mobile Crane Core exam.
3. Lattice Mobile Crane – 1-2 day preparatory and testing program covering Lattice Boom Truck (LBT) and Lattice Boom Crawler (LBC).  This is usually added to the Telescopic and Core program.
4. Overhead Crane – 2 day preparatory and testing program covering overhead cranes.
5. Tower Crane – 3 day program covering tower cranes.

Other Safety Training Programs

These programs are designed to assist you meet the federal training and testing requirements.

1. Confined Space Awareness Safety – 4 hour program with classroom instruction, student handbook, written exam, and completion certificate.  This course covers only an awareness level training.
2. Confined Space Permit Required Qualification – 8 hour program including classroom instruction, student workbook, written exam, and permit required ID card.  This course covers permit required spaces and procedures.
3. Trenching & Excavation Qualification – 8 hour program including classroom instruction, student workbook, written exam, and qualified person ID card.  This course covers trenching and excavations safety and procedures.
