Forklift & Aerial/Scissor Lift
Operator Safety Classes
Overton Safety Training is ready to help you comply with the
OSHA rules on
Forklift Operator Training.
To find out more about these rules, click here.
(What they say, in a nutshell,
is that if you use
forklifts in your business,
your operators must be trained
to operate them,
and you have to be able to prove it.)
To satisfy the rules, your workers can join one of our half-day, open-enrollment,
classes
scheduled frequently in the Pacific Northwest area (see below)
or we can hold a similar length class
at your site,
with a minimum number of operators.
OVERTON Safety Training's experienced teachers ensure maximum retention
of the information covered
in the training.
We also provide all of the required paperwork to ensure that your operations
meet the letter and the spirit of the OSHA rules.
Among the topics included are:
- Federal and state safety laws and regulations
- Truck controls: where they are located, what they do, and how they work
- Differences between forklifts and automobiles
- Steering and maneuvering
- Visibility restrictions
- Attachment adaptation, operation and use limitations
- Vehicle capacity and stability
- How to inspect and maintain trucks
- Refueling and/or charging batteries
- Engine or motor operation
- Surface conditions encountered
- Load composition and stability
- Load manipulation, stacking, and unstacking
- Sloped surfaces and how they affect stability
- Hazardous locations and closed environments
- Forklift types and designations
- Hand signals
Where indicated below, the hands-on portion of the training is done
rodeo style so that
all of the members of the class learn from each other.
